They're investigating a fatal collision

At 1:45 Sunday morning emergency crews were called to Highway 2A and 57th avenue in Ponoka.  When they arrived they found a woman in her 30s dead at the scene. Police say initial reports indicate a northbound sedan struck the victim who was near the southbound lane.  "The individual was on the ground before the collision took place," explained Cpl. Patrick Lambert.

Police are trying to determine how she ended up there and hope someone has some information that can help them answer that question.

"If anybody happened to be traveling through that area or has a property within that area that might have surveillance footage or might have captured something on dashboard camera, any kind of details to add to what led this individual to being in that area of 2A and 57 Avenue, that would be great information to provide to the Ponoka RCMP," said Lambert.

The driver of the vehicle that struck the woman is suspected of being impaired but has yet to be charged.
