PONOKA -- Day camps will be offered at the Ponoka Arena Complex during the Alberta teachers' strike.

Ponoka staff say these camps will be offered for children ages six-to-twelve from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, starting on Monday, October 6, 2025. They add that the day camps will include activities such as crafts, games, and both outdoor and indoor sports.

The daily rate for the day camps is $30 per child. Participants can register online on the Town of Ponoka's website or in-person at the Ponoka Arena Complex. The camps come as part of an effort to support families during the disruptions caused by the incoming teachers' strike.

"These day camps are designed to support families in our community by providing engaging, fun, and affordable recreational programming for children to enjoy each day," said Andrew Jones, Manager of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities.

He encourages residents to visit the Town's website to explore additional activities being offered for children and youth during the fall season.
