Ponoka "Kick it to the Curb" event begins Oct. 2

PONOKA -- Ponoka residents are invited to participate in this year's "Kick it to the Curb" event.

The annual initiative provides an opportunity for residents to turn their unwanted items into somebody else's treasure from Friday, Oct. 2, until Wednesday, Oct. 7. To take part in the town-wide event, residents are invited to place items they wish to give away in their front yard with a 'FREE' sign attached to them. People can then come by and pick up any items they would like to bring home. 

"It's like a community-wide garage sale, except everything is free for the taking," reads a statement from the Town of Ponoka. "At the end of the week, citizens are asked to bring any uncollected items back into their home, or consider donating these items to a local charity or thrift shop rather than throwing them away."

"Kick it to the Curb" week aims to promote reuse and recycling by preventing items from ending up in the landfill. Those who choose to participate in the initiative are asked to respect others' property and avoid driving or walking on gardens or neighbouring lawns.
