PONOKA -- The Ponoka Jubilee Library has seen some strong numbers through the first six months of 2025.
This is according to the library’s six-month progress report, which was officially filed with the Town of Ponoka last week. The report -- which covers from January 1, 2025, to June 30, 2025 -- shows that the Ponoka Jubilee Library welcomed a total of 33,759 visitors during that time. This comes in addition to 165 public programs that were hosted at the facility with 1,951 participants.
The report also shows that 29,157 physical items, such as books and magazines, were checked out by visitors during the first six months of the year. This comes on top of 4,349 electronic resources used. The library gained 153 new cardholders from January to July, bringing that total to 2,726. They borrowed 12,012 items from other libraries during this period, and loaned 7,359 items to other facilities.
For the Ponoka Jubilee Library's budget snapshot, things are looking strong. Revenues are 4.8 per cent higher than expected for mid-year, while circulation expenses are nine per cent lower than expected for this time of the year.
The facility itself consists of one full-time staff member, along with six part-time staff.
