Ponoka Food Bank issues notice re: possibly contaminated item

PONOKA -- The Ponoka Food Bank has issued a notice regarding a possibly contaminated food item.

According to the organization, this pertains to a specific brand of cookies that have been used in hampers within the last 90 days. Officials with the food bank describe the item as a sleeve of plain-labeled chocolate wafer cookies. If you received this item in your food hamper, you're asked to either throw the entire sleeve of cookies away or return the item to the Ponoka Food Bank.

"We are in contact with our supplier, as well as Food Banks Alberta, in order to have this addressed," reads a statement from the food bank. "At this time, this is a voluntary recall and we urge all of our clients to check their supplies and discard any you find."

The food bank also apologizes for any inconvenience and says they are grateful for this matter being brought to their attention.
