PONOKA COUNTY -- Ponoka County is targeting April as a tentative start date for this year's roads program.
Public Works Superintendent Blaine Rose says that as part of the work slated for the spring, crews will be completing cleanup on Township Road 424 and finalizing the Meridian Beach secondary egress, with bridge construction remaining the priority.
He adds that chip-seal work will also be taking place in various areas of the region, including in Country Ridge Estates, Sandbelt Drive in the Village at Wolf Creek, Meadowbrook Views, and the third lift on Range Road 263 (Battle River Road).
Street sweeping will also get underway in April and will be conducted by ANT Construction. Rose notes that crack sealing is expected to get underway during the same time, weather permitting, and will be undertaken by Alberta Pavement Repair.
Dust control rates remain unchanged at $0.24 per litre delivered and $0.04 per litre for water application. Applications open April 1 at the same cost to residents as the previous year. All of this spring's road work is contingent on the weather and could be postponed if mother nature does not cooperate.
