PONOKA -- The Town of Ponoka is conducting an illumination assessment report for local playgrounds.
The goal of the assessment is to determine the feasibility of adding new night-time lighting at various playgrounds across the municipality. According to Ponoka administration, this is being done in hopes of providing improved safety for playground users.
As of earlier this month, the Town of Ponoka's Master Projects report indicated that the illumination assessment report was already in progress. This comes as administration says their priority is to consider possible new lighting fixtures for playgrounds that children frequent most.
Following the completion of the assessment report, the matter will then be tabled at Ponoka's Priorities and Initiatives meeting in October. The study is being led by Ponoka's Department of Parks, Recreation, and Facilities.
