Ponoka Community Expo returns April 24-25

PONOKA -- This year's Community Expo is set for April 24th and 25th at the Ponoka Arena.

The annual two-day event is hosted by the Ponoka Chamber of Commerce and will feature local businesses, community organizations, vendors, musical performances, and more. Chamber President Bruce Clarke talks about what will be on tap for the event.

"It's a two-dollar entry, and that entry will include three tickets to our 'Taste of Ponoka' which will feature local restaurants and local food vendors," said Clarke. "The Educators are playing on Friday evening, and Shalaine Stebner is playing on Saturday."

Clarke says the annual Community Expo provides an opportunity for the public to explore what makes the local region a vibrant place to live, work, and do business. He adds that a new job fair component will be introduced for this year's event, sponsored by Eagle Builders.

"We've got things for both employers and job seekers," said Clarke. "For the employers, they have the potential to meet employees looking for jobs, and it gives them an opportunity to promote their business and workplace culture. For the job seekers, there will be all sorts of vendors at the show." 

Another one of the special attractions for this year's event will be the Alberta Birds of Prey Foundation. This will give attendees a chance to see majestic owls, hawks, and other birds of prey up close while learning about the important work being done to rescue, rehabilitate, and protect these amazing animals.

"Very excited about how this is all coming together," said Clarke. "We think we can take this expo back up a couple notches and provide something that is worthwhile for everyone to come see what the local businesses and vendors have to offer." 

The event will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24th, and 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on April 25th.
