RIMBEY -- Police are investigating after a fatal two-vehicle collision occurred near Rimbey.
According to the Rimbey RCMP, the crash occurred on Friday afternoon at around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highways 20 and 20-A. They say that the incident took place when a motorcycle with two riders aboard struck a minivan. This resulted in the rear passenger of the motorcycle -- a 53-year-old woman -- being airlifted to hospital before passing away from her injuries.
The area was closed for several hours while police began to investigate, as early reports indicate that the minivan turned across the path of the motorcycle which caused the deadly accident. Police note that alcohol and speed are not considered factors at this time.
So far, it hasn't been communicated whether there were any injuries to the driver of the motorcycle or the occupants of the minivan. RCMP send their condolences to the family and friends of all involved.
