RIMBEY -- A new sensory room could be coming to the Rimbey Junior-Senior High School.

This comes as local school administrator Kelly LeBlanc has filed a donation request with the Town of Rimbey in hopes of securing funding for the new space.

A school sensory room is space equipped with various tools to help students manage their senses, focus, and emotions. These controlled environments also provide a safe space for children, particularly those with autism and ADHD.

The conceptual drawings for the proposed sensory room feature various items, including a built-in marble panel, UV back-light, and area rug, star projector, 9090 base bench, vibrosonic base, and bubble tube.

LeBlanc lists several benefits of the space, including its ability to provide sensory stimulation. Other benefits include providing a safe space for students to build coping skills and emotional regulation strategies, encouraging socialization, and improving cognitive development and functioning.
