WETASKIWIN -- A 51-year old resident of Maskwacis has died after being struck by a vehicle in Wetaskiwin.
According to RCMP, the incident took place on 56th Street near 50th Avenue shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19th. They note that one of their patrol officers was conducting a traffic stop in the area when he was urgently flagged down for a pedestrian motor vehicle collision nearby.
An investigation revealed that the victim was laying on the roadway when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately following the incident and waited for police to arrive on scene. Unfortunately, the 51-year-old male resident of Maskwacis was declared deceased at the scene. The police investigation has concluded, and no charges are pending against the driver.
