BLACKFALDS -- A 39-year-old man has died following a fatal hit-and-run in Blackfalds.
According to RCMP, the incident took place in a parking lot just off Highway 2A at around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, June 16th. Police say the victim Preston Arndt was rushed to hospital following the incident, but later passed away from his injuries.
The suspect -- 31-year-old Alan Navarreye of Penhold -- fled the scene following the incident but was arrested shortly after. Mounties say that he was taken into custody after he was involved in another vehicle collision, this time in Red Deer. Following a police investigation, Navarreye was charged with Manslaughter.
The investigation was led by the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit.
