LACOMBE -- The Lacombe Fire Department is boosting its ability to respond to medical emergencies.
This comes as the Fire Department says that their members will now be utilizing the LUCAS Chest Compression System. The device is said to deliver guidelines-consistent, high-quality chest compressions with less strain, micromanagement, and risk for the caregiver.
The system also provides benefits both to the cardiac arrest patient and the resuscitation team. It is used to improve the quality and consistency of CPR, especially during long durations or transport, and it significantly increases the chances of good patient outcomes.
In a statement, the Lacombe Fire Department says that their firefighters received hands-on LUCAS training on Tuesday, October 21, and that they're proud to continue improving their service to the community. They also note that the new system will allow members to focus on other critical life-saving tasks.
