Investigation underway following violent incident at Royal Hotel

PONOKA -- Ponoka RCMP have launched an investigation following a violent attack from this past weekend.

In a statement provided to 89.7 The One, the Mounties confirmed that the incident unfolded at approximately 5:34 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Royal Hotel on 50 Avenue. They say that officers were called to the scene after receiving reports that an assault in progress.

Their initial investigation revealed that an altercation took place inside the bar, and that one male suffered multiple stab wounds. He was transported to hospital by ambulance then via STARS air ambulance for medical treatment. His current condition is not currently known.

RCMP note that their investigation into the matter is still in its early stages, and that no arrests have been made.
