PONOKA -- This year's Graduates of Ponoka Parade is set for Thursday, June 5th.
The annual event celebrates the Town's class of high school graduates in a parade around the downtown core. The parade will get underway at 5:30 p.m. on 55 Street, before making its way along 48 Avenue, 50 Street, and 46 Avenue. It'll then head south along 54 Street before eventually wrapping up at the Ponoka Arena Complex.
According to the municipality, several road closures will be in effect for the duration of the parade:
- 55 Street (between 45 Avenue and 48 Avenue)
- 48 Avenue (between 55 Street and 50 Street)
- 50 Street (between 48 Avenue and 46 Avenue)
- 46 Avenue (between 50 Street and 54 Street)
- 54 Street (between 46 Avenue and Highway 53)
The Town of Ponoka says the closures will help ensure local graduates and their families can safely celebrate this important milestone in their lives. Residents are asked to watch for 'No Parking' signs and remove vehicles from roadways on which 'No Parking' signs are posted.
