PONOKA COUNTY -- RCMP have provided details about a break-and-enter from earlier this week at a residence in Ponoka County.
The incident took place shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Apr. 28, when four individuals illegally entered a rural residence. Shortly after, Ponoka RCMP were dispatched to the area and were able to locate and arrest four individuals with assistance from various police units.
"This included the Maskwacis RCMP, Police Dog Services, and drones to locate the four suspects," said Cpl. Troy Savinkoff. "This was an example through our Real Time Operations Centre of how we're able to coordinate multiple resources through an in-progress event."
RCMP did not disclose whether or not anyone was home at the time of the break-in, but they did confirm that no injuries were reported. This comes despite one of the intruders entering the residence armed with a hatchet. Charges have now been laid against the men, all of whom are residents of the Maskwacis area.
41-year-old Jake Green and 23-year-old Cal Okeynan were both charged with break-and-enter, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, and failure to comply with release order conditions. 21-year-old Taylyn Rattlesnake and 32-year-old Travis Thom were charged with break-and-enter and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
