PONOKA -- Ponoka Councillor Teri Underhill will be seeking re-election in next week's municipal election.
If re-elected, Underhill will enter her fourth term with the township after first being elected back in 2013. Speaking to 89.7 The One, she talks about why residents should continue to support her candidacy.
"When I make decisions, I don't make those decisions for me, or what's best for me -- I make the decisions based on what I think is best for the citizens," said Underhill. "I think we've done a lot in this Town to help improve it, while keeping taxes low."
Having been born and raised in Ponoka, Underhill has extensive roots in the community. She was a seven-year volunteer with Skate Ponoka, and also helped deliver community Christmas dinners in 2020. She says that if re-elected on October 20th, she would continue her work to bring a new field house to the community.
"We've been close before with respect to grant funding that was very frustrating to lose that momentum," said Underhill. "But I think we're the closest we've ever been to having a shovel in the ground."
Underhill is also a member of five municipal committees, including the Community Enhancement Committee and Ponoka Stampede and Exhibition Association. Aside from her role on Council, she's also an Administrative Assistant Coordinator at Alberta Health Services.
