PONOKA -- Cal David will be looking to retain his seat on Ponoka Council in the upcoming municipal election.

David has served as a Councillor since 2021 and will be seeking his second term on October 20th. Speaking to 89.7 The One, he spoke about why he believes residents should continue to put their faith in him.

"I think I bring a perspective that's going to help with funding," said David. "It will help with recognizing that there's only so much revenue that we have to meet with the expenses we have, and given that we can't run a deficit, I think it's really important that we have fiscal responsibility."

David serves on various boards and committees, including the Ponoka Jubilee Library Board, and also works as a part-time Physiotherapist in the community. He says that some of his goals if re-elected include advocating for lower taxes and enhancing green spaces.

"I'm a big proponent for green space, and making sure we have enough room and recreation for folks," said David. "More importantly, I think we need to make sure that in a time of fiscal restraint that we're managing the taxpayer dollars well.

David cites the Highway 53 Improvement Project as one of the major accomplishments he's seen during his time on Council. In addition to his work with the municipality, David has also been a coach with Ponoka Minor Soccer since 1993.
