Watch Your Mailbox This Week for Information on the App

It’s Emergency Preparedness Week (May 4 to 10) and the Town of Ponoka is reminding citizens to download the Town App (if you haven’t already done so) because it will help you stay informed in the event of a large-scale local emergency.

Residents should watch their mailboxes this week for a brochure that shows you how to ‘Download the App’ to get real-time alerts about:

• Large-scale local emergencies;

• Utility service disruptions; and

• Other important Town news.

How to Download the App

Visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and download the Voyent Alert app onto your smartphone. The Town of Ponoka is using the Voyent Alert app to send out these alerts. Voyent Alert is developed by an Albertabased company, ICEsoft Technologies.

No Smartphone? No Problem!

If you don’t have a smartphone, you can still receive alerts by email, text or recorded voice call. To register, please visit Ponoka.ca/p/alerts or call 403-783-4431.

In the event of a large-scale local emergency in the Town of Ponoka, alerts issued through Alberta Emergency Alert will also be pushed through to the Town App. You may receive emergency alerts twice (from the Town App and Alberta Emergency Alert), but this helps ensure you stay well-informed during an emergency.

Please note that if you are a utility service customer, you may already be enrolled through the primary phone number and address associated with your utility bill. You would be registered to receive emergency and utility alerts via recorded voice calls from the notification service and app. If you would rather receive alerts by email or text message rather than voice calls, you can update your subscription at Login.Voyent-Alert.com.

For more information about the Town App, please visit the Town of Ponoka website at Ponoka.ca/p/alerts.
