PONOKA -- It was another successful year for Ponoka Secondary Campus' Santa's Anonymous program.
The annual program, which has been operated by PSC for approximately 44 years, sees food donations collected for those in need during the holiday season. According to school officials, this year's donations were picked up from a total of 60 locations across Ponoka.
For this year, all recipients received a food hamper with non-perishable food items, while families with children also received gifts in celebration of the season. PSC staff first began organizing this year's Santa's Anonymous back in mid-October, with many of their Toy and Gift Collection Community Boxes being delivered by their Senior Girls Volleyball team.
They note that their Charity Checkstop, Student Carnival, Santa Showdown, Toy Drive, and Stuff A Bus campaigns are also well-known annual events in Ponoka, drawing in the majority of their fundraising dollars each season. Food hampers and gifts were delivered to recipients as of Dec. 17, according to Ponoka Secondary Campus.
Over the years, PSC's Santa's Anonymous has continued to evolve. The organization credits two of its founding members, Karen David, who became involved in 1992, and Lori Skaley, as key contributors to the program’s early success. In a statement, the organizers say these individuals have volunteered their time, expertise, and knowledge to the program, and they thank them for their dedication, contribution, and commitment to supporting the community as well as the program.
PSC also thanks members of their community for their continued generosity.
