SPRUCE GROVE -- A fraud and identity theft investigation in Spruce Grove has resulted in the arrests of two people.
According to Parkland RCMP, the investigation began on Dec. 17, 2025, when a search warrant was conducted at a local residence. This was led by the Mounties' General Investigation Section, as their search revealed a number of fraudulent documents and credit cards in the name of multiple victims.
"This search warrant was a result of a comprehensive investigation into multiple frauds and identity thefts," said Theresa Martins, Media Liaison with the Parkland RCMP detachment. "Two individuals have been arrested and remanded into custody."
She says that 37-year-old Evan Mitchell Balchen and 41-year-old Rena Linsey White, both residents of Spruce Grove, have been charged with numerous offences relating to fraud and identity theft.

- Fraud Over $5,000
- Possess Identity of multiple victims with intent of committing an offence
- Personate multiple victims with intent to gain advantage for him/herself
- Traffic in multiple credit cards in the name of multiple victims that he knew had been obtained by the commission of an offence;
- Make a false document
- Possess a false document
- Have in possession capable of making the impression of a stamp or part thereof (Bank Stamp)
- Fail to comply with release order
Balchen and White will make their first court appearance on Dec. 22, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Evansburg. Police would not disclose the location of the suspects' residence. If you have any information about this crime, please call the Parkland RCMP at 825-220-7267(RCMP).
