On June 2, 2025 at in the area of Stony Plain an RCMP member out on patrol observed a silver Ford F250 leaving a local McDonalds at a high rate of speed, when the member attempted a traffic stop the vehicle fled. With the assistance of Edmonton Police Air Services the F250 was located parked in a residential area of Stony Plain and another traffic stop was attempted, again the F250 fled at a high rate of speed, to avoid any risk to the public, members did not pursue.
The F250 was observed driving at high rates of speed, crossing medians, driving the wrong way on the road and nearly colliding with civilian and police vehicles.
At approximately 3:00 a.m. on June 2, 202,5 in the area of Spruce Grove the F250 stalled and the suspect driver exited the vehicle, entered a nearby truck and attempted to steal it. At this time RCMP officers were able to move in and arrest the suspect who resisted arrest.
The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital where he was assessed and released back into the custody of the RCMP.
As a result of this investigation the suspect was identified as Colter Trynchy, a resident of Spruce Grove, who was charged with the following:
- Flight from Police;
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
- Theft of motor vehicle;
- Resist / Obstruct a Peace Officer;
- Operating a vehicle while prohibited.
Trnychy was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody, his next court date is scheduled for June 11, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain.
