
Parkland County, AB
On Feb. 24, 2025 in the area of Wabamun, two individuals were attempting to steal a truck outside of a local business. When confronted one of the individuals pointed a firearm at the owner of the truck before both individuals fled the area in what was later determined to be another stolen vehicle.
In the early morning of Feb. 26,2025 in the area of Spruce Grove an individual attempted to steal a vehicle parked in a driveway with a youth inside. The parent of the youth confronted this individual, entered the moving vehicle and struggled with the individual until they stopped the vehicle and fled the scene.
Following an extensive investigation by the Parkland RCMP which included the execution of several search warrants in the Parkland and Edmonton area the individuals were identified.
As a result of this investigation Kalob Kochanowsky(25), a resident of Edmonton was charged with the following:
- Robbery with a firearm;
- Using a firearm in the commission of an offence;
- Pointing a firearm;
- Possession of a weapon contrary to an order;
- Operating a conveyance while prohibited;
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Kochanowsky was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody, his next court date is scheduled for May 20, 2025 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain.
As well a youth, a 17-year-old male resident of Parkland County who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with the following:
- Robbery with a firearm;
- Robbery;
- Abduction;
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The youth was taken before a Justice of the Peace and remanded into custody, his next court date is scheduled for May 21, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Stony Plain.
“This investigation was a priority and we will continue to dedicate significant resources to stop violent offenders who jeopardize public safety” said Inspector Kevin Mcgillivray the Detachment Commander of the Parkland RCMP.
