Energy City Metro Ballpark Construction Update June 26, 2025

The Energy City Cactus Rats Baseball Club is currently in the final stages of evaluating construction progress at the Energy City Metro Ballpark, following a challenging spring season marked by persistent weather issues and thus construction delays.

While remarkable progress has been made thanks to the dedication of our construction teams, engineers, and municipal partners, a comprehensive assessment of the site’s readiness is now underway to determine if a 2025 opening remains viable.

“We remain committed to opening a world-class facility for our fans and Metro Edmonton,” said Pat Cassidy, Managing Partner. “…however, this is a complex project, and the integrity of the ballpark experience, safety, functionality, and overall fan enjoyment, must come first.”

Ongoing Evaluation
The organization is working closely with contractors and city officials to gather a full picture of construction timelines, safety compliance, and operational logistics. This evaluation will be completed in the coming days, and a formal update will be shared with fans, sponsors, and the community next week.
