LEDUC -- This coming fall will see Wendy Francis take over as the new principal of Leduc Composite High School.

Francis will take on her new role in September after spending the last four years as an Assistant Principal at École Secondaire Beaumont Composite High School. Prior to that, Francis was a teacher and then Assistant Principal at Caledonia Park School in Leduc, as well as a teacher at John Maland High School in Devon, over a period of twenty years.

"I am pleased to be joining the Leduc Composite High School team in the fall," said Francis. "I've lived in Leduc since 2001 and raised my family there, so I have deep roots in the Leduc community. I am looking forward to working with the families I've come to know during my time at Caledonia Park School. I am looking forward to continuing the strong legacy and tradition of Leduc Composite High School."

Following her initial time teaching at schools in Devon and Leduc, Francis then earned her Master’s Degree in leadership at the University of Portland. She then cut her teeth in an administrative capacity when she became the assistant principal at Caledonia Park. Speaking to 93.1 The One, Francis discussed what she hopes to bring to her new role in Leduc.

"I think one of the things I'll bring is the communication aspect. I enjoy conversations with parents, students, and teachers, I think everyone needs to have a voice when we're making decisions," said Francis. "I've always enjoyed leadership, at a coaching level, teaching students and helping them with life skills is something that's always interested me."

For the 2026-2027 school year, Francis will replace current acting principal Richard Dechaine.
