THORSBY -- The Mayor of Thorsby has been appointed to the Board of the North Saskatchewan Watershed Alliance.

The Town of Thorsby made the announcement in a news release, saying Darryl Hostyn has become the NSWA Board's newest member. The Board serves as the governing body for the organization which aims to improve the overall health and sustainability of the watershed in the present and future.

"As someone deeply connected to my community and its history, I understand how vital water is to our resilience and prosperity," said Mayor Hostyn in a statement. "I see the NSWA Board as a platform where I can further support practical, cooperative approaches to protecting our watershed while ensuring municipalities have a strong voice at the table."

Hostyn adds that he's hoping to advance strategic, community-aligned solutions to watershed management issues for the North Saskatchewan River. The NSWA was originally formed in 2005 and their vision includes the protection and enhancement of watershed health, water quality, and water quantity.

The organization is one of eleven Watershed Planning and Advisory Councils in the province of Alberta.
