LEDUC -- One person has died following a structural fire in Leduc's West Haven neighbourhood.
Police responded to the fire at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026, along with members of Leduc Fire Services. While details are limited at this time, Leduc RCMP Constable Lindsay McNab says emergency crews discovered the body of a male located within the burning residence.
"Upon arrival, it was determined that there was a deceased male inside the residence," said Cst. McNab. "Fire investigators along with the Leduc General Investigations Unit attended the scene, and the preliminary investigation determined that the fire and death do not appear to be suspicious."
Leduc Fire Chief Bryan Singleton was not available for comment, however, Cst. McNab was able to confirm that the fire was isolated to a single residence and that no nearby structures were damaged during the incident.
"I know it was contained to the one residence," said Cst. McNab. "It didn't affect any of the neighbouring houses, but in terms of how much of that structure was left, or destroyed, I actually don't have that information."
She says that as part of the police investigation, an autopsy for the deceased male has been ordered, but she reiterates that the death did not appear suspicious in nature. No details have been released as to the cause of the fire.
