LEDUC COUNTY -- A new playground at Diamond Estates Park had its grand opening this past weekend.
The event held on Saturday, July 5th, included a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the park's newest amenity. According to County staff, their plans were originally crafted following a recent public consultation session, where residents expressed their desire for a new playground in the growing neighbourhood of East Vistas.
County staff say that the Diamond Estates Park green space had also been noted as an ideal location to build a new playground and gazebo, and as well a gathering space at Royal Oaks Park. Funding for the project was provided collaboratively between Leduc County, local residents, and the Government of Alberta's Community Facility Enhancement Program.
In a statement, Leduc County says the goal was to design and implement a public-use playground and gazebo that will encourage community connection, healthy living, physical activity, and inclusion. They add that it will also support inclusive and unstructured play to meet the diverse needs of the growing community.
Diamond Estates Park is located at 2715 59th Avenue NE in Nisku.
