Man arrested following drug trafficking investigation

LEDUC -- A recent drug trafficking investigation in Leduc has led to the arrest of a local resident.

According to the Leduc RCMP, an investigation into possible drug trafficking began in July in the area of Leduc. This investigation led to a search warrant being executed at a local residence on August 21, 2025. Constable Lindsay McNab says that as part of their search, Mounties discovered quantities of illegal substances as well as drug trafficking tools and paraphernalia.

"A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of cocaine, methamphetamine, psilocybin," said Cst. McNab. "A quantity of Canadian currency, digital scales, drug packaging materials, and equipment items used to traffic a controlled substance."

The investigation has resulted in the arrest of 39-year-old Kevin Vansickle, who’s now facing multiple charges:

  • Trafficking a controlled substance
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Production of a controlled substance
  • Driving while unauthorized
  • Fail to comply with a Release Order condition X 2

In conversation with the One, Cst. McNab talked about the success of the recent investigation in removing illegal drugs from Leduc streets.

"Anytime we can remove drugs from our streets, and our community, it's a win for us," said Cst. McNab. "We want to remind the public that any information regarding criminal activity we'd like them to let us know."

Kevin Vansickle was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released on a release order with conditions, and is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Leduc on Aug. 28, 2025.
