LEDUC -- Leduc's Sports Hall of Fame will be celebrating its Class of 2024 in November.

The City says that a total of four people will be inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame this year, and that an induction ceremony will be held at a Gala on November 1, 2025. The Leduc Sports Hall of Fame Committee -- which includes a cross-section of representatives from Leduc's sporting community -- selects the inductees on an annual basis.

Bob Thompson -- Thompson moved to Leduc in 1986 and was instrumental in bringing minor football to the community in the way of the Leduc and District Minor Football Association. He also played a major role in preserving the Alexandria Outdoor Pool when it faced uncertainty in 1995. Bob also served the community as a volunteer and held two terms as City Councillor.

Mark Lynch -- Lynch was born and raised in Leduc and was a significant track star in Alberta throughout the 1980s. He earned gold medals at multiple provincial championships at just 15-years-old, and over the next two years, set four provincial indoor records and two provincial outdoor records that have still not been broken.

Terry Volsky -- Volsky moved to Leduc in 1979 and played a major role in building local hockey in Leduc. He was responsible for putting together a Midget-A division under the North Central League. The 1997-98 season started with six teams, and by 2000-2001 included 30 teams in three divisions. He also served on the board of directors for the Leduc Minor Hockey Association for 11 years.

Trevor MacAulay -- MacAulay was a local rugby star who represented Canada at the World Rugby Classic for five years. He was picked for Team Alberta for U-17, U-18, U-19, and U-21, and for the Western Canada U-20 team. He also helped build local rugby in Leduc through his time coaching the LA Crude with the goal to ensure that sports in the community are accessible to everyone.

93.1 The One would like to congratulate all four of these individuals for their achievements.
