LEDUC -- Leduc Santa's Helpers will host their annual Toy Drive on Saturday, November 15.

This year's event is scheduled to take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the parking lot of the Leduc Chamber of Commerce, located at 6420 50 Street. Residents are encouraged to donate new and unused toys and clothing for kids and teenagers. This comes as part of an effort to help families during the holiday season.

Rob Logan, President of the Leduc Santa's Helpers, previewed this year's Toy Drive in conversation with 93.1 The One.

"We're going to be accepting all sorts of donations for our depot," said Logan. "All you have to do is drive in, hand it to some of our volunteers, and we'll handle it from there. We're looking for all sorts of things, from toys for infants to things for teenagers."

Leduc Santa's Helpers is a needs-based organization that has been in operation for more than 42 years. The group was founded in 1983 by Earl and Julie Logan along with their friends Duane and Sylvia Rowles. Originally, the organization began as a small event among friends to help raise money to buy toys for kids at Christmas.

"Last year we were able to help provide clothing and toys for 536 kids," said Logan. "Which is more kids than some of the schools in the area could even handle."

The organization's goal is to help every family in Leduc have a Merry Christmas regardless of personal circumstance. Logan says Leduc Santa's Helpers has continued to grow in scope every year since it was first established in the 1980s.

"Every year since we've been increasing in size, location size, and how many people we help every year," said Logan. "In the last decade or so, we've also started expanding into other events, including the Toy Drive."

The organization will also host its Santa's Helpers Auction on December 6.
