LEDUC -- The results of the City of Leduc's 2026 Budget Planning and Satisfaction survey have been unveiled.

The goal of the survey was to assess residents' perspectives on fiscal priorities and tax strategies for the 2026 budget, and overall satisfaction with municipal services. It was administered by Advanis from late February until the end of March. In total, 638 Leduc residents aged sixteen-and-older completed the survey.

According to the results, 93 per cent of residents rated their overall quality of life in Leduc as good, very good, or excellent. Peter Kyba -- Senior Analyst with Advanis Inc -- says this is well above the provincial average.

"The top reasons were the location, being close to the airport and Edmonton, and the parks and multi-way pathway system," said Kyba. "Slightly less often mentioned were the access to the recreation facilities, and that it's a small town feel in a reasonably sized municipality."

Meantime, the survey results also show that 67 per cent of respondents said they are satisfied, or very satisfied, with city services. In his presentation to Leduc City Council, Kyba spoke about the public's feelings toward various services.

"The satisfaction is really quite high for City events, and especially the library, and satisfaction is reasonable for FCSS," said Kyba. "It's a little lower for transit."

The results also indicate that perceptions of value for property taxes have stabilized, with 64 per cent saying they receive "good" or better value, which is well above the Alberta benchmark of 45 per cent. Tax strategy preferences remain divided, as half of residents polled would prefer to cut services to reduce or maintain taxes, while about one-third would prefer tax increases to maintain or expand services.

Most respondents favor maintaining current funding levels across each individual City service. Snow removal, road maintenance, and enforcement had the most residents suggesting an increase in funding for the 2026 Budget.
