LEDUC COUNTY -- Police continue to investigate a fatal two-vehicle crash that took place this past weekend.
Mounties with the Thorsby-Breton RCMP say the incident occurred in the evening of Saturday, June 28th, shortly after 8 p.m. on Highway 778 at Township Road 490 in Leduc County. The initial reports stated that two vehicles -- a Dodge Ram and a Chevrolet Silverado -- suffered a serious collision at the intersection, prompting the response of RCMP, EMS, and area Fire Departments.
Upon their arrival, crews pronounced the two occupants of the Silverado -- a 31-year-old female and 30-year-old male -- deceased at the scene. Meantime, the 41-year-old driver of the Dodge Ram was taken to a local medical facility to be further assessed for injuries.
At this time, RCMP say their preliminary investigation has indicated that the Dodge was heading westbound along Township 490 when it failed to stop at the stop sign. It then collided with the Chevrolet, which was headed northbound on Highway 778.
The investigation remains ongoing and police extend their condolences to the loved ones of the deceased.
