LEDUC COUNTY -- Leduc County has announced that Tanni Doblanko has been re-elected via acclamation.
Doblanko will be entering her fourth term as an elected representative for Division 5 following the upcoming civic election on October 20, 2025. She was first elected in 2013, re-elected in 2017, and was acclaimed in 2021. She has served as the Mayor of Leduc County since 2017. In conversation with 93.1 The One, Doblanko spoke about some of the County's accomplishments over the past four years.
"One of the things Council has achieved in the last term, and maybe even in the last two terms, is related to quality planning," said Doblanko. "We've completed our municipal development plan, and our new land use bylaw."
Doblanko grew up in Mannville, a small village in central Alberta. Prior to being elected to council, she worked as an assistant superintendent with the Edmonton Public School Board. She says navigating the City of Leduc's annexation plans will be a top priority for her next term.
"How we manage that in a way that allows the people living there to continue to farm and thrive, over time as the land is used up," said Doblanko.
She had previously voiced her displeasure with Leduc's annexation plans for the County back in February, saying that this was done without proper consultation with Leduc County representatives. The proposed plan would expand the municipal boundary of the City of Leduc to the south and southeast by at least 38 quarter-sections.
In addition to her recent role as Leduc County's Mayor, Doblanko also serves the municipality on various boards and committees. Some of these include the Agricultural Service Board, Public Works Committee, and the County's Subdivision Authority. She also spoke about her plans to address future challenges relating to economic growth.
"We're going to have to continue to look at ways to ensure that the right businesses are coming to settle here in Leduc County, for the good of all of our residents," said Doblanko.
If given the support of her new colleagues, Doblanko says that she would be very interested in continuing as the County's Mayor. She says it allows an opportunity for her to provide direction and leadership locally and regionally, and that she believes she's proven over the past eight years that she's the right person for the role. Leduc County elects its Mayor each term via a vote from its elected Councillors.
