LEDUC COUNTY -- The latest quarterly policing data has been released for Leduc County.
According to the data covering July, August, and September, instances of property crimes were down across all categories. This continues a recent trend as RCMP have made combating these types of crimes one of their strategic priorities.
Break and Enters fell from 34 in the second quarter of 2024 to 22 during the same period this year, while possession of stolen goods offences dropped from 30 during Q2 2024 to 16 during the second quarter of this year.
Despite the decrease in property crimes, some categories did see an increase when compared to the same period in 2024. Incidents of uttering threats rose from thirteen during the second quarter of last year to 20 during the same period in 2025. Assaults ticked up slightly from 36 in Q2 2024 to 39 in the second quarter of this year.
There were also five incidents of extortion in Leduc County from July to September, up from just two during the same period last year.
One of the RCMP's files of note from Q2 2025 included a serious incident from September 30, 2025, which saw a property owner assault multiple individuals. Some of the victims sustained serious injuries, resulting in nineteen charges laid against the suspect. Another incident from September 23, 2025, involved a dangerous road rage incident. Mounties say that during this incident, an angry driver threatened another person with a double-barrel shotgun.
Traffic offences rose by eleven per cent during the second quarter of this year when compared to the same period in 2024.
