LEDUC -- An investigation is underway after a deadly weekend incident on the QE II.
According to police, the incident took place on Saturday, March 14, 2026, around 2:50 p.m., on the QE II near Township Road 490. They say that a witness noticed a white/grey dirty pickup truck pull up beside what was later identified as a black 2012 Honda Civic. Moments later, the pickup truck sped off at a high rate of speed, and the Honda Civic pulled over to the side of the road. Investigation revealed that a firearm was discharged towards the Civic, resulting in the death of the driver.
Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of the investigation and is seeking public assistance. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has dashcam footage of the QE II, near Township Road 490, at around 2:50 p.m., is asked to come forward.
