
LEDUC -- The nomination deadline for Leduc's 2025 municipal election is quickly approaching.
The City says that the final day for nominations will be at noon on Monday, September 22. For those interested in running for Mayor or Council, you can head to the City of Leduc's website for information. This year, residents of Leduc will be tasked with electing a total of a six Councillors, as well as a new Mayor to replace Bob Young, who is set to retire.
At this time, there are two candidates running to become the new Mayor of Leduc -- current Councillor Lars Hansen, and 13-year Leduc resident Sam Dalupang. In the race for City Council, there are fifteen current candidates listed. Glen Finstad, Bill Hamilton, and Laura Tillack are all seeking re-election; however, Ryan Pollard and Beverly Beckett are not currently listed.
Elections for local school boards (Black Gold School Division and St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Separate Regional Division #38) will occur on the same day as the municipal election on October 20. City of Leduc elections are regulated by the City's Election Bylaw and the Local Authorities Election Act.
