LEDUC -- A resident of Leduc is facing numerous charges following a recent police investigation.

RCMP initiated the investigation into 30-year-old Daniel Golub back in September to ensure compliance with his 18-month Community Sentence Order (CSO) and Release Order. These court orders stemmed from previous drug trafficking investigations conducted in July and October of 2024.

Golub was arrested on Dec.17, 2025, for breaching his conditions, and after a search of his vehicle, he was found in possession of 171 grams of meth, 7.1 grams of cocaine, 40 ml of GHB, and $8,269.00 in Canadian currency. Mounties say the investigation was a collaborative effort between the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and Leduc Drug Unit.

"Collaboration between specialized units is critical in drug investigations," said Cst. Scott Hansen of the Leduc RCMP Drug Unit. "Sharing intelligence and resources helps reduce the impact of illicit drugs in our communities."

As a result, RCMP have charged Leduc resident Daniel Golub with the following offences:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking GHB
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Resist / Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order (x3)
  • Breach CSO (x8)

"Repeat offenders who continue to disregard court orders and engage in drug trafficking will be a priority for Wetaskiwin RCMP," said Cpl. Learn of the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit. "We will continue to use all available resources and work collaboratively with our district and specialized units to target those who pose a risk to community safety."

Golub appeared before the Alberta Court of Justice in Ponoka on Dec. 19, 2025.
