LEDUC -- RCMP have laid charges against a 41-year-old man for child pornography offences.
Police say their investigation began after the RCMP General Investigation Section was notified of a resident, living in Leduc, who was believed to be in possession of child pornography and had distributed it online.
Following a joint investigation between Leduc GIS -- with the assistance of Leduc RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and ALERT ICE unit -- police executed a search warrant on the resident's home. RCMP Constable Lindsay McNab says the man was taken into custody and charged with several offences.
"Christopher Williams, a 41-year-old resident of Leduc, was charged with possession of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, and accessing child pornography," said Cst. McNab. "Williams was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released on conditions."
McNab did not specify what was seized as part of the RCMP's search warrant but confirmed that Williams is set to appear in court in Leduc on May 8th, 2025. This is the second time this year that a resident of Leduc has been charged with offences relating to child pornography.
