LEDUC COUNTY -- Plans for future road and bridge projects in Leduc County will be reviewed next week.

The drafts outline infrastructure projects that are being considered in Leduc County between 2026 and 2030. This comes as part of two separate drafts, one for road projects, and another for bridge projects. Prior to the drafts coming before Mayor and Council, they will first have to be approved by the County's Public Works Committee at their meeting next week.

One of the major projects included in the draft five-year road program is a major road project slated for Sunnyville Estate. This would include areas full rehabilitation, including work on Range Road 243, and would cost approximately $1,950,000. Another one of the larger road projects proposed for next year would see $1,500,000 worth of upgrades to rural roads across the County.

$4,900,000 in upgrades to Range Road 221 (Joe Lake Road) is also being considered for 2027. This would include pothole filling, pavement preservation, and various other road work. The draft also indicates major upgrades to Sparrow Drive in 2028. This would see intersection upgrades and other work at the cost of $4,800,000. This was originally slated for last year but was postponed due to better-than-expected road conditions resulting from spray patching and pothole filling.

For Leduc County's proposed five-year bridge program, the most significant project proposed for next year would see a full $1,800,000 bridge replacement on Range Road 15, between Highway 622 and Township Road 502. Another full bridge replacement is proposed for 2027 on Township Road 504 between Range Roads 35 and 34, however this one would be subject to grant approval.

If approved by the County's Public Works Committee, the plans will then be considered in future budget deliberations.
