LEDUC COUNTY -- RCMP have confirmed that a vehicle collided with a train last week in Leduc County.
In a statement provided to 93.1 The One, the detachment says that the incident occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2nd, on Highway 21 in Leduc County. They report that a semi-truck collided with a train, and that the driver of the semi was transported to hospital by EMS. An investigation into the matter is ongoing, and more information is expected soon.
The incident resulted in disruptions to north and southbound traffic throughout the morning hours, and several detours were put in place for area residents. The Looma Transfer Station was also closed during the day on July 2nd to keep the area clear.
