LEDUC COUNTY -- A police investigation continues after a deadly two-vehicle collision in Leduc County.
According to RCMP, the crash occurred on Highway 21 at Township Road 502 at around 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday night. Police say the incident involved a head-on collision between a Hyundai Sante Fe and a Kia Forte. Upon arrival to the scene, emergency crews discovered the two occupants of the Kia Forte deceased, while the Hyundai driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
In a statement to the One, RCMP confirm that the driver of the Hyundai is now under investigation for impaired driving causing death. They add that this type of investigation requires judicial authorizations and lab testing, so if laid, charges will come further down the road. Emergency crews were on scene for several hours following the crash and the area was reopened to traffic in the early hours of Thursday morning.
One of the victims was a 33-year-old from North Battleford, Saskatchewan, while the other was a 73-year-old from Camrose.
