city of Leduc
The window for women to opt-in to a class action settlement made against the city of Leduc is rapidly closing.
Current and former employees going back to 2002 were eligible to opt-in if they were harassed or discriminated against while working for the city.
The suit was settled in July of last year and the deadline to opt-in is Sunday, August 4.
Meantime, the lawyer who won the settlement tells the One he intends to return to court once the claim period ends.
Robert Martz tried in the spring to legally reveal the number of women who filed a claim, and the total amount the city had to pay out to settle those claims.
His initial attempt was denied by the courts.
City lawyers argued the information Martz wanted to publicize was confidential and the judge agreed.
