LEDUC -- Leduc Santa's Helpers say this weekend's Christmas Auction will continue as planned despite a recent theft at their storage facility.
The theft -- which occurred late last week -- resulted in the organization losing a total of 1/3 of its auction items, including several items from one of their raffle prizes. In a post to social media this past weekend, Leduc Santa's Helpers stated that affected businesses of missing gift cards had been notified to not honour the stolen cards.
Despite this devastating loss of inventory just one week before their auction event on December 6, 2025, the Leduc Santa's Helpers says that they've received an outpouring of support from the community following the news of the theft.
"We still plan to go ahead with the auction and we have since replaced the items in the raffle with the same or near identical items," said Rob Logan, President of the Leduc Santa's Helpers. "Since we made it publicly known on social media what had happened, we've seen an immediate outpouring of support with businesses and residents of Leduc contacting us to see how they can help or what they can donate."
In a statement to 93.1 The One, Logan confirms that he will be filing a police report with the Leduc RCMP as of the afternoon of December 1, 2025.
"We're upset that the theft happened, but there are still over 500 children that need our help and we plan to help put smiles on every one of their faces Christmas morning," said Logan. "We're blessed that the community of Leduc is coming together to make it happen."
The Leduc Santa's Helpers Society has been in operation for 42 years. This is a developing story and will be updated when new information is available.
