LEDUC -- A full day of events is planned in the City of Leduc for Canada Day.
The festivities will get underway at 8:30 a.m. at the Grain Elevator with the annual pancake breakfast, as Darrell Melvie, General Manager of Community and Protective Services, says this will be followed by a variety of family activities.
"There's a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Leduc Legion and Leduc Lions Club, so that's always a great event to start the day," said Melvie in conversation with the One. "Later on, between 10:00 and 2:00, there are family activities which include a petting zoo, there's inflatables, and tours of the elevator, face painting -- so good times for the kids."
During this that time, the annual car show will also be ongoing from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Main Street. Meantime, this year's outdoor community concert will be held in the east parking lot of the Leduc Recreation Centre starting at 5:00 p.m. and will feature food trucks, beer gardens by Leduc Brewing Co., face painting, glitter tattoos, and more. The event will be headlined by award-winning musician Corb Lund.
"The opener ANNIKA starts at 7:00, and then we're pretty excited about our headliner Corb Lund, playing at 9:00," said Melvie. "There'll be beer gardens, food trucks, face painting for the kids, roving entertainment, and some inflatables."
The day’s festivities will wrap up with the City of Leduc's annual fireworks show, which will begin at 11:00 p.m. at William F. Lede Park.
