LEDUC -- Leduc RCMP have laid charges against a 17-year-old youth following their investigation into a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred on June 14, 2026.
The collision occurred at the intersection of Southfork Drive and Highway 2A and resulted in the death of two people. The police investigation determined that one vehicle was traveling northbound on Highway 2A and turning west onto Southfork Drive. The second vehicle was traveling southbound on the highway and collided with the turning vehicle.
The investigation also revealed that the southbound vehicle was traveling at an excessive speed at the time of the collision. The 17-year-old male driver of the southbound vehicle has been charged with the following:
- Dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm
- Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death X2
- Operation while impaired of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm
- Operation while impaired of a motor vehicle causing death X2
- Operation – low blood drug concentration.
Under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the identity of the accused cannot be released. The accused has been released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Leduc on Oct. 1st, 2026.
