LEDUC -- Multiple individuals have been charged with offences relating to child pornography.

Between September 9 and September 11, Leduc RCMP, with the assistance of the ALERT Internet Child Exploitation Unit, executed five search warrants. As a result, police seized multiple electronic devices. Constable Lindsay McNab says the devices were seized from homes in Leduc and Calmar, resulting in charges to three individuals.

"Taylor Poitras, a 22-year-old resident of Leduc, has been charged with accessing child pornography, transmitting child pornography, and possession of child pornography," said Cst. McNab. "A second individual was charged, however, due to their age, their identity will not be released."

A third individual was also charged, however, Cst. McNab says that this person is now deceased and that their death is non-criminal. One incident is still under investigation pending forensic review of the electronic devices, while charges were not brought against a fifth individual following the investigation.

"The Leduc RCMP is highly motivated in focusing on files of this nature," said Cst. McNab. "If anyone has information regarding criminal activity within the area of Leduc, they are asked to contact Leduc RCMP at 310-RCMP."
