LEDUC -- Four people have been charged after a months-long investigation into sexual offences against children.

On August 20, after an investigation by the Leduc RCMP into sexual offences against a child, police arrested 27-year-old Leduc County resident Maxance Valade. He was charged with production of child pornography, as well as seven additional charges of sexual offences against children.

RCMP then executed a search warrant at Valade's property in the City of Leduc, seizing several items, including electronic devices. With assistance from ALERT's Integrated Child Exploitation Unit, the electronic devices were examined to identify additional victims and suspects.

As a result, Edmonton residents 34-year-old Sydney Burns, 24-year-old Fannie Mae Salvador, and 29-year-old Jessica Leigh Wood were all arrested and charged with various sexual offences. RCMP Corporal Troy Savinkoff spoke on the matter in conversation with 93.1 The One.

"These particular offences are isolated incidents with isolated individuals," said Cpl. Savinkoff. "There's no information pointing to additional predatory activity within Leduc and area."

Burns was charged with production of child pornography and seven additional charges of sexual offences against children, while Salvador was charged with transmitting child pornography, as well as 3 additional sexual offences against children. Wood, who was arrested on November 5, has been charged with sexual interference.

"We thank the staff of ALERT ICE, as well as the Zebra Center, who provided valuable assistance during this difficult and disturbing investigation," said Inspector Kiel Samotej of the Leduc RCMP. "This case involves isolated individuals, and there is no information pointing to predatory activity in the area. We will continue to act swiftly on any reports to ensure the safety of children and the community."

If anyone has information regarding this investigation, they are asked to contact Leduc RCMP at 310-RCMP (7267).
