LEDUC COUNTY -- Marty McCrea is running in Leduc County's upcoming election for Division 2.

McCrea has more than fifteen years’ experience in municipal finance and a degree in business administration. She's also a certified professional accountant and senior administrative officer. McCrea will be up against Bruce Wrubleski and incumbent Kelly-Lynn Lewis when residents head to the polls on October 20. Speaking to 93.1 The One, she provided her reasons for deciding to seek a seat on Council.

"I strongly feel that our local government must refocus on its core responsibilities," said McCrea. "To serve our residents, and represent our community interests."

McCrea is a twenty-year resident of Leduc County and says that if elected, she will focus on the concerns of residents and investigate all issues. She adds that transparency is a significant part of her current election campaign.

"We need to be transparent and keep our community informed and updated, without requiring the residents to seek out information," said McCrea. "We need to provide a clear explanation for decision-making processes, as they occur."

If elected, McCrea says that one of her main priorities would be preserving local farmland and fixing the County's gravel roads network. She adds that creating clarity and consistency surrounding land use decisions would also be front of mind if she's chosen as the next Councillor for Division 2.

"Many community members have expressed concerns over land use approval processes," said McCrae. "Why one neighbour is approved to subdivide their land and another across the road is not -- Farmers are looking to divide their land so their children can build their homes and take over their future farm business, and they are getting denied."
