LEDUC COUNTY -- Kelly-Lynn Lewis will be seeking a third term on Leduc County Council in the upcoming municipal election.
Lewis was first elected as Councillor for Division 2 back in 2017 and was re-elected in 2021. Speaking to 93.1 The One, she talked about one of the main accomplishments she has seen over her past four years on Council.
"I would say that we had somewhat of a challenge trying to get live streaming for our council meetings, and some of our Council was reluctant to do so," said Lewis. "But, after a few months of advocating, we finally made the decision as a Council to live stream."
She says this has added an enhanced level of transparency for residents looking to stay abreast of their municipal operations and decision-making. Lewis also spoke about why she feels residents should continue to support her in Division 2.
"I care deeply about the County and the people who live here," said Lewis. "Over my term on Council, I've worked hard to help our residents navigate County services and ensure that their concerns are heard."
Prior to working with Leduc council, Lewis worked as a restaurant manager, bookkeeper for a small business, and manager of a buy-and-sell shop. She has been a resident of Leduc County since 2013. In terms of her goals if re-elected, Lewis says she will work to protect the local agriculture sector.
"Agriculture is a huge part of our County -- it's actually the backbone of our County," said Lewis. "One of our challenges is making sure farmers can continue to succeed with their operations, while we have new residents moving in."
She adds that she's also dedicated to responsible budgeting while supporting rural communities across Leduc County. In the race to determine the next Councillor for Division 2, Lewis is up against Marty McCrea and Bruce Wrubleski.
